Full slate of activities ready for Spring Weekend at Munson-Williams

MARCH 20, 2023. UTICA — Four days of exceptional events and exhibitions are on tap for Spring Weekend at Munson-Williams, March 30 to April 2. This will be the first weekend under the art organization’s new name, which will be announced March 28 at a private event at 4 p.m. and a free public party at 5 p.m.

The centerpiece exhibition, Art in Bloom, will present vibrant, locally-produced floral designs inspired by works of art in the Museum of Art’s collection. This exhibition runs March 31 to April 2, so there is just one weekend to enjoy the floral creations and related special events and programs. Learn about growing a flower garden or creating compost in classes on March 31, then enjoy live watercolor demonstrations by local artists of flowers and bees on April 1. Admission to Art in Bloom is $5, but free for members.

There is a full day of events slated for April 1, with Met Opera: Live in HD’s presentation of Verdi’s Falstaff at 12:30 p.m. and Keyboard Conversations with Jeffrey Siegel at 7:30 p.m. Tickets to both events are available at mwpai.org or 315-797-0055.

In Met Live: Verdi’s Falstaff, baritone Michael Volle stars as the caddish title character, gleefully tormented by a trio of clever women who deliver his comeuppance in Verdi’s glorious Shakespearean comedy. Tickets to the live streaming event at the Museum are $26, or $22 for members.

Keyboard Conversations: Chopin and Grieg - A Musical Kinship invites you to join internationally-renowned pianist Jeffrey Siegel as he explores the connections between the works of Frederic Chopin and Edvard Grieg before playing each piece in its entirety. Tickets are $38, or $33 for members.

Spring Weekend at Munson-Williams also includes a free Q&A with Artist-in-Residence Dehmie Dehmlow on Thursday, March 30, and weekly favorites like Munson-Williams film series, showing Full Time on Friday, March 31, ($5-9) and Art and Yoga ($10-15) on Saturday, April 1. For more information on all of these events, visit mwpai.org/calendar.
