Each short film nominee is released in one of three feature-length compilations according to their category of nomination: Live Action, Animation, and Documentary.

Each collection will be shown separately over the course of the weekend with time in between for discussion and refreshments.

After repeatedly failing Captcha tests, a music producer named Lara becomes obsessed with a disturbing question: could she be a robot? 

The Last Ranger

Directed by Cindy Lee and Darwin Shaw, South Africa, English, 28 min.

A young South African girl, Litha, is being introduced to game reserve by the last remaining ranger when they are ambushed by poachers, leading to a battle to protect the rhinos. 

The Man Who Could Not Remain Silent

Directed by Nebojša Slijepčević and Danijel Pek, Serbia, Serbian, 13 min.

A passenger train from Belgrade to Bar is stopped by paramilitary forces in an ethnic cleansing operation, in a dramatization of the Štrpci massacre of 1993.

In the Shadow of the Cypress

A former captain suffering from PTSD tries to be a caring father. 

Magic Candies

Directed by Daisuke Nishio and Takashi Washio, South Korea, Korean, 21 min.

A young boy named Dong-Dong discovers a bag of magical candies.

Wander to Wonder

Directed by Nina Gantz and Stienette Bosklopper, Netherlands, Dutch, 14 min.

Actors Mary, Billybud, and Fumbleton star in an '80s kids’ TV series, but when the creator of the show dies, they are left alone in the studio and start creating increasingly strange episodes. 

Yuck!

Directed by Loïc Espuche and Juliette Marquet, France, French, 13 min.

Léo, a young boy, finds kissing both repulsive and intriguing in this coming-of-age story.

A police shooting in Chicago in 2018 is told through footage from security cameras and police body cams. 

Instruments of a Beating Heart

Directed by Ema Ryan Yamazaki and Eric Nyari, Japan, Japanese, 23 min.

First graders in a Tokyo public elementary school are instructed to form an orchestra and perform "Ode to Joy." 

The Only Girl in the Orchestra

Directed by Molly O’Brien and Lisa Remington, United States, English, 34 min.

Double bassist Orin O’Brien was the first woman hired to play in the New York Philharmonic, and she reflects back on her trailblazing career.
