Bob Mortis has been the Director of Performing Arts at Munson since September 2004. In this role, he leads the development and execution of an exemplary performing arts and cinema series, delivering dynamic cultural experiences to the community. Bob also serves as Special Projects Manager, overseeing and coordinating major inter-departmental events such as the Annual Summer Arts Festival, Munson After Dark, First Friday, and the Munson Juneteenth Celebration.
Bob first joined Munson in 1998 as Ticket Office Manager and later served as Assistant Director of Performing Arts before advancing to his current leadership roles. His career began at Cornell University, where he was the Director of Audience Services for the Department of Theatre, Film, and Dance.
A graduate of Ithaca College with a Bachelor of Science in Theater Arts Management, Bob is an active member of the Association of Performing Arts Professionals and has contributed as a grant review panelist for the New York State Council on the Arts. His dedication to arts leadership has earned him recognition, including a Paul Harris Fellowship from the Rotary Club of Utica and the Accent on Excellence Award for Mohawk Valley Leaders Under 40.
